~Biography~
First of all, let me introduce myself.
My name is Agnes van den Berge - Hoogstrate. I live in Kapelle (the Netherlands)
together with my husband Arnold and our pets.
| Already at a very young age, I started my first creative steps. I began drawing, modelling (!) and later painting. Wandering through a creative world I discovered the art of making dolls. That became my main focus. |

I tried out all sorts of materials,
but in the end I chose air drying clay to work with.
To cover all the skills I started to follow some classes first.
After a while I had enough experience to continue on my own.

Eventual I
prefered making modern dolls. Because I wittingly do not copy work from
other dollmakers and do not work from sculpting books, I was able to
develope my own style. Next to making dolls I also make interior decorations. For that I combine the air drying clay also with other materials. |
After a few years I started giving classes and soon afterwards one of my dreams became true: I got my own studio. It was build next to our house and has a lovely view on our garden. In my studio I give my classes and work on my own creations.
| The dolls I make are "one of a kind", so that every doll is an only and unique item. Making dolls is a relaxing and also intensive work, especially if I'm getting "help" from one of our furry friends (most succesfull). |
